By using the community internet service provided by Onewayout.net Society you are agreeing to all of the  "Terms and Conditions" listed throughout this site

Onewayout.net Society has been active since 1995; our community group was formed to address the need for affordable internet connectivity in this community.

In 1996, we started service to our community with some dedicated community volunteers, a dream, a few modems, a small server and 33.6k dial-up service. Prior to this internet connectivity was only available from Telus by paying long-distance toll charges plus monthly internet fees.

In 2004, with the help of the BC Government, Industry Canada, School District 82, Bear Valley School, Stewart Public Library, Twilight Industries (Technical and Network Security specialist – Vancouver, B.C.), Cybernet Communications (Smithers, B.C.) and the entire community we were able to install 2 wireless access points. Then in April 2005 we brought 2 more access points into service.

By April, 2007, we began providing service to the community through 6 wireless Access Points. Our agreement with the BC Government and Telus is now providing high speed wireless service to the community.

In 2009 and 2010, with the assistance of the BC Government, we expanded to 7 - 2.4 Ghz Access Points and 2 - 900 Mhz Access Points.

2.4 Ghz Virgina AP - serves North end of town, Hydro substation area
2.4 Ghz Beegee AP - serves Glacier Drive, Upper Raven Street, Yukon Crescent/Drive area
2.4 Ghz Sandi AP - serves School area
2.4 Ghz Debbie AP - serves lower Railway Street, sections of Main Street, Airport Area, lower Conway, Brightwell Street, parts of 4th Avenue
2.4 Ghz Irene AP - serves Main Street, parts of Brightwell, Vancouver, Victoria Streets, 6th Street
2.4 Ghz Daktari AP - serves Hospital area
2.4 Ghz Harbour AP - serves 4th Avenue and general Harbour area
900 Mhz Virgina AP - serves North half of town
900 Mhz Irene AP - serves South half of town

Dial-up access was discontinued in 2009.

If the need exists, we are also prepared to consider partnerships with industry to extend our service to remote locations in the northwest geographic area.

In early May, 2005, the Onewayout.net wireless Access Points had increased security rules added to them.

If you have not been assigned a User Name/Password from Onewayout.net Society wireless service you will not be able to log-on now that PPPoE rules are in place.

If you would like to subscribe to the wireless service please go to Terms & Conditions, on the main page. Copy this entire document to a WORD document on your computer. Fill-out the registration information at the end of this document, sign it and forward it to Onewayout.net Society BY MAIL with your payment of $55.00 enclosed (Plus taxes).

All users of the wireless system must have computers equipped with necessary hardware that can utilize our Access Points. We highly recommend the use of Tranzeo Tranceivers to enhance your wireless signal. These receivers can be purchased, or rented, from Onewayout.net Society.  While many computers may be able to access our community antennas using the wireless devices that are currently installed in many home computers we very highly recommend that you purchase a Tranzeo Tranceiver Home Unit to enhance your signal output.  We cannot give you any assurance that you will be able to receive good internet service if you chose to only use your built in antenna.

Scanned applications with all information filled-out and clearly showing the applicant’s signature may be accepted on-line by e-mailing the document to ljdeacon@hotmail.com

Voice-over-IP is being tested with Skype software and is functioning relatively well. By using the Onewayout wireless system it is now possible, using a small hand-held wireless phone (about the size of a cell phone), to call other skype users world-wide (at no cost to the user) or to successfully link into any telephone system in the world for a small administrative cost using the Skype system. Skype can also be used from your home computer.
